Distress.
For this
month’s project, I decided to create a «masterboard» - a technique that I found
in «Take Ten» magazine (dedicated to stamping – a gem!) and that I just
loooove!
A «masterboard»
is basically a hand-made background created from cardstock, stamps and any
chosen medium, that can be used for papercraft projects of your choice.
My version
uses the reverse side of a paper from the Emotions collection, which I altered
using Distress inks, templates and stamps.
.on
First off,
I used a damp sea sponge to pick up Distress inks from the pad and dabbed it
all over the page, repeating with several colors. One could stop right here and
use this as a new background all on its own.
Workshop.
Second, I
applied Distress Inks again, but this time, I used The Crafter’s Workshop
templates and the ink blending tool.
I then
added som stamped images (flourishes and leaves), randomly all over the surface.
Finally, I
sprayed the whole sheet with Pearl spray (made by mixing Perfect Pearls pigment
powder in Pearl with water in a Mini Mister – add 3 times the tip of a coffee-stirrer
and fill with water). It doesn't show much on the photo, but it gives the
whole background a nice, rich sheen.
Once dry, I
decided to use this «masterboard» in a 10-in-1 card pack (a version of a «one-sheet
wonder»): 10 invitation-size cards using ivory cardstock, my new background,
some chipboard tiles and a stamp. Here are the bases of my cards:
